In a nutshell about digital nomad residence permit in Spain

Residence in Spain with the right to work for 3 years: for yourself and relatives (you can bring a partner, children and, in special cases, even parents). A convenient way to re-locate yourself or your employees. The main thing: — you can travel 30+ Schengen countries without a visa — live and work in Spain 365 days a year: approval with >95% probability — you can request approval if there is no answer within 20 working days. Naturalization and permanent residence: — after 5 years you can get a permanent residence permit (with the right to move to another EU country) — children born in Spain get citizenship after 1 year — you can get a Spanish passport after 10 years — OR with eligible citizenship after just 2 years! Accounts and business: — open an account in an EU bank or Revolut without problems — easier to open personal and corporate accounts outside the EU — possibility to open a legal entity in the EU.

June 2024. Portugal has canceled the option to apply for residences more easily with a visitor visa schengen/visa-free. Spain remains one of the last EU countries where it is still possible to apply for a residence permit with a Schengen visa

What is required to obtain a residence permit?

3 basic requirements for residency ✅ Do you have a remote work contract for more than 3 months from a company that has been in existence for more than 1 year? ✅ Is your contract income more than 2,849€ per month at the current exchange rate? (+1,068€ for the first family member, +356€ for the following ones) ✅ Can you come to Spain on a Schengen visa to apply? If all three points are yes: then 90% that you can get a residence permit. Then it is just a matter of collecting the right documents and submitting them.

* It is also possible without Schengen to apply for a 1-year visa D in the consulate, which then on arrival to replace the residence permit, but it risks unnecessarily complicating the process at all stages. It is recommended to get a tourist visa/visa-free first in order to get a 3-year residence permit at once.

List of documents

Certificate of no criminal record

Certificate of no criminal record with apostille from the countries where you have lived for the last 2 years + translation Jurado

Contract, bank statement

Valid work/freelance contract + Jurado translation
Letter from the company in Spanish that it authorizes you to work remotely in Spain and confirms the validity of the contract + Jurado translation if the letter is not in Spanish
Bank statements for the last 3 months with receipts (normal translation)
  1. Invoices for the last 3 months (normal translation)
Certificate of incorporation of the company (client) with apostille (!) + Jurado translation

Proof of experience/CV

CV in Spanish
Diploma or relevant work experience of more than 3 years (previous/current contracts, labor and social security statements) + Jurado translation

Passport, legality of entry

Scan of all passport pages after entering Spain
  1. with a stamp of entry into Spain
  2. or Declaracion de entrada (if you fly from another country, this document is obtained from the police at the airport as proof of entry into Spain).

Duty

Documents for payment of the fee

Questionnaires, declarations and power of attorney

MI-T form for the main applicant and family members (MI-F)
Letter of commitment to register with Spanish Social Security (RETA)
Marriage/birth certificates + Jurado translation
Declaration from yourself that you have no criminal record
Power of Attorney for filing, if filing through a third party.

Documents do not need to be physically sent anywhere. We work with online documents. Then the documents are filed online.

What is Jurado translation/juried translation.

Sworn translators are translators certified by the Spanish state and registered in a registry. A kind of analog of a notary translation. Some documents require a translation from such translators.

We work with the best translators and will help with this.

You need to set aside an additional budget for them -+300-400€ (depends on the number of documents and pages). If you choose full All-in-one support, translators are included in the price.

Timeframe for consideration and obtaining a residence permit card

28 calendar days to review the application + 2-3 weeks to receive the residence permit card (TIE).

Approximately you can put 1.5-2 months for the whole process.

We won't give up and we will fight till the end.
